Listening

February 16, 2014

We are so busy being concerned with  our own agendas we miss little signs and communications from others. If we could reflect on what someone actually says to us we might respond in more appropriate ways.

Perhaps while driving in our car we could process what we heard today. Not in a way that is overly analytical but in a way that allows for being present to others. Have you noticed that the best actors in movies are the ones that actually listen and respond? If they are distracted or trying to remember their lines it takes you right out of the scene. I wonder if with our fast paced lives, social media, etc. we end up "out of the scene".

Take a deep breath, look into someone's eyes and truly listen. You'll be surprised at the gems you hear.
